In BC civil litigation, sworn evidence is given in affidavits, at examinations for discovery under Rule 7-2 of the Supreme Court Civil Rules and at trial; BC does not use US style depositions for discovery, although Rule 7-8 allows deposition evidence to be taken for use at trial in limited cases. False evidence can also lead to adverse credibility findings and special costs.
Anyone giving evidence for a business must make sure affidavits and testimony are accurate and complete.
Signing an affidavit drafted by someone else without checking every statement can expose the deponent to serious consequences.
